Welcome back to the newsletter of iEPB!
In recent months, the iEPB project has been fully dedicated to developing the common data model and associated tools. The iEPB common data schema has been finalized, and significant efforts have been dedicated to implementing it within EPC software across participating countries (Spain, The Netherlands and Austria). Simultaneously, the design and development of the iEPB web app have commenced. This app aims to enable a unified data collection process for EPC, SRI, and BRP assessments while providing an interactive, intuitive, and user-friendly visualization of the results for the end-users.
The development of the iEPB web app actively incorporates feedback from key stakeholders, including EPBD implementing bodies, building professionals, and product manufacturers/suppliers. To gather insights on potential benefits, challenges, and desired features, two workshops were held in Spain with 28 participants, alongside 48 interviews conducted across Spain, the Netherlands, and Austria. Notably, public administrations as EPBD implementing bodies, highlighted the iEPB schema as a promising tool to meet EPBD requirements for aggregated data and national databases.
Another significant achievement has been the completion of the SRI standalone application. This tool allows for the calculation of both the SRI and Key Functionalities scores, ensures seamless integration with the iEPB schema and, being an open-source application, it can be easily integrated into other platforms, such as current national EPC software. The application has attracted significant interest within the sector, as evidenced during the recent Smart Readiness Indicator joint event in Brussels. Additionally, the European Commission has recognized its value by featuring it in the SRI digital calculation tools section on the official SRI-dedicated website.
Beyond our collaboration within the cluster, project updates have been showcased at key events such as the European Sustainable Energy Week and the 2024 Sustainable Places Conference. At the latter, one of the iEPB partners hosted a workshop to present the iEPB schema.
"Reflecting on the project's recent progress, I want to highlight the insightful and encouraging feedback from a diverse range of stakeholders, emphasizing the strong potential of the iEPB schema and web app" states Eva Lucas Segarra, coordinator of iEPB. "Additionally, I wish to commend the unwavering dedication of our partners during this critical phase of the project. At this juncture, the foundational components of the iEPB schema and tools are being carefully designed and refined—laying the groundwork for the project's overall success."
