iEPB joins EU initiatives in Brussels to connect building performance data for EPBD implementation
How interoperable, reusable building data can support National Building Renovation Plans, from individual assessments to national stock monitoring
On October 7th, the iEPB project took part in “Data-ready for 2027: Supporting National Building Renovation Plans with EU-funded solutions and the EU Building Stock Observatory”, a hybrid event held in Brussels and online, which gathered EU-funded initiatives and key stakeholders to discuss how reliable building data and digital solutions can help put the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) into practice.
Eva Lucas Segarra of the Valencia Institute of Building (IVE), who coordinates iEPB, presented the project’s Common Data Model and web app. She explained how these tools make it easier to integrate, exchange and reuse building information across different assessments, including Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI), while offering a scalable framework for Renovation Passports and other assessment schemes. Her presentation also showed how structured, machine-readable building data can feed into national building databases and support the monitoring of National Building Renovation Plans.
The session also featured results from the project OneClickRENO, which demonstrated how building data can be used to assess renovation options and build staged renovation roadmaps with the renUEva tool.
A common thread ran through the discussions: whether at the level of a single building or an entire national stock, interoperability and data reuse are essential to making building information more accessible and genuinely useful.
iEPB is grateful to the EU Building Stock Observatory, OBSERVE EU, DG ENER, the EPB Center and all co-organising projects (BREEZE, ReLIFE, openBEP4EU, SmarterEPC, and OneClickRENO) for making this valuable exchange possible.
If you missed the event, the session recordings and presentations are now available on DG ENER’s website.
