Join iEPB at the “SRI Implementation in Member States” event in Brussels

Brussels conference brings policymakers, experts, and LIFE projects together to align SRI with Europe’s decarbonisation goals

iEPB is pleased to announce its participation in the upcoming high-level event “SRI Implementation in Member States – Policy support and tools from LIFE projects”, taking place on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, from 08:30 to 17:30 (CEST) at ACE Events in Brussels and online.

Organised by the European Commission in cooperation with several LIFE projects, this hybrid event will gather policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to discuss the next steps for implementing the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) across the EU.

Why attend?

The revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) sets clear milestones for the deployment of the SRI and Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS). With deadlines approaching between 2024 and 2029, this event will:

  • present the current state of play of SRI implementation in Europe
  • showcase how LIFE projects, including iEPB, are supporting Member States with practical policy tools and solutions
  • share lessons from national test phases in Greece, Spain, Cyprus, and Italy
  • debate the costs and benefits of SRI for buildings, energy systems, and EU competitiveness
  • explore synergies between SRI and EPCs, paving the way for smarter, more efficient, and healthier buildings.

Who should join?

This event is designed for national authorities, building and energy sector representatives, LIFE project partners, building auditors, industry stakeholders, and the research community.

About iEPB’s role

As part of the event, iEPB will contribute its insights on integrating SRI into the broader Energy Performance of Buildings (EPB) assessment framework, showcasing how interoperable tools and guidance can help Member States accelerate the transition towards smart, decarbonised buildings. Additionally, a workshop will be organized by the four LIFE projects nearing completion (easySRI, Smart Square, SRI2MARKET, and tunES), that will present insights from their work.
