Exciting progress has been made on the iEPB project, with its common data model now successfully integrated into several key EPC and SRI tools across Spain, Austria, and the Netherlands. This integration is a major step forward in aligning with the 2024 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). In collaboration with the OneClickReno project, the model is also being extended to support personalized, step-by-step renovation recommendations.

Meanwhile, development of the iEPB web application has reached a key milestone, with the main architecture finalized and efforts now focused on visualizing integrated results. A notable new feature allows public authorities to aggregate and analyze data from multiple assessments through a single platform—supporting national compliance with EPBD Article 22. The platform is on track for testing in pilot buildings this autumn.

To ensure effective adoption, expert groups in Spain and Austria have been established to identify training needs for energy certifiers, laying the groundwork for tailored learning resources. At the same time, a pilot project on dynamic re-scaling in Spanish hotels—based on actual energy use—is underway, using real consumption data to produce more accurate performance assessments.

These developments were recently showcased at the CLIMA 2025 Next Gen EPC Cluster Workshop, where the iEPB project demonstrated its integrated approach across EPC, SRI, renovation passports, and LCA. While the technical development has revealed challenges—especially in managing shared datasets and creating flexible logic for varied scenarios—it has also confirmed the strong potential of this platform to enable immediate, practical implementation of the EPBD 2024.
