Welcome back to the newsletter of iEPB!
iEPB is in a very intense phase of production, and we are glad to share the latest updates of the consortium's work.
The task led by EAst lays the groundwork for the development and testing of future iEPB tools by mapping today’s energy performance assessment systems across Europe. It compares how Austria, the Netherlands and Spain handle key data like climate zones, energy factors, and software interfaces—highlighting where things work well and where improvements are needed.
The result is a shared technical starting point for the project team and a clear direction for aligning national systems. By identifying gaps and proposing a common data model, the work of WP2 helps pave the way for more consistent, high-quality, and digital-friendly energy performance assessments in the future. All these information can be found in the deliverable, that will be published soon.
Work package 3 develops the main products of the iEPB project on which we are currently focused: the schema and the web application. Partners already have a first version of the iEPB schema which currently includes: the general building data, common to any assessment, the data included in the CE3X, ECOTECH and CERMA energy certification programs, and the data of the SRI2Market SRI building assessment tool, including the results of the Austrian and Spanish assessments.
The iEPB web application is currently under development: the main architecture is finalized, and current efforts are focused on the visualization of integrated results from different assessments. The platform will contain several functionalities such as data access control for the different user profiles (administration, technician, end users,...), data upload and download from the schema, data collection for the assessment technicians and results visualization.
EFINOVATIC already has a first version of the platform in which it is currently programming the visualization of results elaborated by CENER and in which the partners will soon start working developing the data gathering forms for the different assessments.
WP4 has also advanced on multiple fronts: the iEPB common data model has been successfully implemented in key EPC and SRI software tools. In parallel, collaboration with the OneClickReno project is enabling the integration of the schema into Renovation Passport tools, aligning with the objectives of the EPBD 2024. The hotel buildings selected for the dynamic rescaling pilot have been confirmed, and data collection is underway to calibrate assessments using real consumption data. Additionally, an expert group on energy certification has been established in Spain and Austria, with a first meeting already held. These groups are contributing to the definition of training needs for future iEPB tool users.
META Group, as leader of WP5, is coordinating the exploitation strategy to maximise the uptake and long-term impact of iEPB’s Key Exploitable Results (KERs), including interoperable data models and innovative software tools for building energy performance assessment. Recent activities have focused on the characterisation and validation of five selected KERs, with particular attention to stakeholder engagement and the alignment of outcomes with real market and policy needs. META has also carried out dedicated exploitation workshops and collaborative sessions involving all partners to ensure that project results are positioned for broad adoption across Europe. These efforts are part of a structured roadmap aimed at fostering the sustainability and replication of iEPB solutions beyond the project’s lifetime.
In terms of evenmts, iEPB was present at the CLIMA 2025 - Next Gen EPC Cluster Workshop, where it showcased its progress in integrating EPC, SRI, Renovation Passports, and LCA through a shared digital infrastructure. Represented by IVE and EPB Center, the project presented its common data model, web application, and the standalone SRI tool.
And let's not forget: working together means meeting together. On September 23rd and 24th, the consortium will meet in Rotterdam, in which the partners ISSO and Buro de Haan have an office. In this two-day meeting, we will focus on going from development of the iEPB tools and the implementation of them in the local contexts to pilot them in real buildings, accompanied with the needed training for the testers of the tools.
Stay tuned for updates, insights, and opportunities to get involved in iEPB project! |
